LOOSE KITTY

I am aware of how oxymoronic "forcing myself to loosen up" sounds. But sometimes, when I have the iPad on my lap and the choice to draw or taking a crack at some serious blind contour-ism, I go for the latter. It amounts to nothing, but the release of the gesture, the lack of attention to detail, the refusal to even dwell anywhere -- all that creates an experience that I, like many, don't allow myself to have often enough. Throw the damn results to the wind already and embrace the gesture, the tacit understanding between your hand and your eye -- and whatever the brain does in between. Trust. Trust the hand. Trust the eye. Because your kitty will be in this very pose for the next 3 seconds tops while cleaning herself.
